My immediate thought was that the loss of that scout was far more dangerous than anything else happening in the battle. Really?I was dreading the thought that the Jung would get one of the jump drives, but feared we were on the path-there was far too much foreshadowing. I will state that I'm going to keep going, I just can't say now, but I'm not super fond of having overly contrived situations like this.-Spoiler-I'm more disappointed with the issue around the scout at the end. I'm okay with the one major character dyeing if necessary, but it seemed like was overly naïve leading to the result, and it felt kind of forced.However, I have an even larger issue, when combined with above, left me asking if I wanted to keep reading this series. In fact, I unfortunately predicted in my own mind the 2 events almost perfectly-and frustratingly. The classic Space Opera where against all odds we have incremental victories that show to never give up, and always strive against the enemy.Why only 3 stars? While the book started on an amazingly cool high note, I couldn't help but feel that it started on a high note because we had a few negative elements coming.
